Course Overview
The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course consists of five Adventure Dives, each designed to improve your skills and introduce you to new types of diving.
Required Adventure Dives
Deep Dive – Learn to safely dive to a maximum depth of 30 metres (100 feet).
Underwater Navigation– Improve your underwater navigation using natural references and a compass.
Peak Performance Buoyancy – Fine-tune your buoyancy for better air consumption, control, and enjoyment.
Additional Adventure Dives
Drift Dive - Learn how to properly do drift diving in Cozumel's famous currents.
For your fifth Adventure Dive, you can choose between:
Wreck Dive
Night Dive
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- Are a certified PADI Open Water Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization)
- Are at least 12 years old (Junior Advanced Open Water Diver)
- Are medically fit for scuba diving
- No minimum number of logged dives is required

Your PADI Advanced Certification
After successfully completing the course, you’ll earn your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
With this certification, you’ll be qualified to:
- Dive to a maximum depth of 30 metres (100 feet)
- Improve your confidence and underwater skills
- Experience more challenging dive sites
- Continue your education with the PADI Rescue Diver Course
